GTA 6: Compatible consoles, GB weight and everything we know about the launch
The launch of GTA 6 is approaching and the questions don't stop raining. Which consoles will you be able to play it on? How much space will you need to free up on your hard drive? Rockstar Games is still tight on technical details, but there is already enough official information and rumors to get a pretty good idea of what lies ahead.
What is official is that GTA 6 will arrive on November 19, 2026 exclusively for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This means that if you still have a PS4 or Xbox One, you can update the console yes or yes: Rockstar has confirmed that there will be no version for the previous generation. As for the weight in gigabytes, there is still no official data, although rumors suggest that it could exceed 150 GB, something not far-fetched if we consider the brutal scale of the game. Of course, until Rockstar confirms it, you have to take it cautiously.
To understand why this matters so much, just go over the context. GTA 6 will be set in Vice City and the fictional state of Leonida, a recreation of Florida that promises to be the largest and most detailed map in the saga. The game will feature two protagonists: Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval, a Bonnie and Clyde style couple who starred in the first official trailer. That video, released in December 2023, broke all records of views on YouTube in its first few hours, which gives an idea of the historical expectation surrounding this title. The second trailer, released in 2025, only fueled the hype further.
With the release date marked on the calendar for November 2026, there is time for Rockstar to unveil the final technical details: exact weight, resolution, frame rate and possible performance modes. If GTA 5 came to occupy more than 100 GB over the years and its updates, it is reasonable to expect that its successor will start from an even higher figure from day one. The best thing you can do right now is to keep doing gap in your SSD and, if you don't have a next-generation console yet, think about the jump. The biggest launch in the history of video games is not going to wait for anyone.
